Kumamoto Foreign School Teacher's House Janes' former residence (Kumamoto Foreign School Teacher's House)

Kumamoto Foreign School was built in 1871 to welcome the foreign teacher L.L.JANES. It is the oldest existing Western-style building in Kumamoto Prefecture and is designated as an important cultural asset of Kumamoto Prefecture. Mr. JANES lived here for 5 years and educated the young people of Kumamoto, laying the foundation for the modernization of Kumamoto. The museum displays teacher Janes' favorite items and information related to the fraternity club. The admission fee is 200 yen. Monday is a public holiday. In case of national regulations, the museum will be closed on the next day. December 29th to January 3rd are also public holidays.
