Former Morita Bank Head Office

Morita Bank was founded by the Morita family, Mikuni Town's most wealthy merchant family. This building, which was completed in 1920 as the main office, operated as the Fukui Bank Mikuni Branch until recently. However, as the building deteriorated, it became owned by Mikuni Town, and restoration work was carried out based on a detailed survey, and it was opened in July 1999 as a cultural heritage site of Mikuni Town. You can basically enter for free and enjoy the interior and exterior design of the building. The exterior is a Western European classic design, so-called modern revival style. The roll-up window shutters, which were cutting edge at the time, are also a highlight. The interior is a wide atrium with wood and white plaster carvings as the main theme, and the plaster decoration on the ceiling of the sales room is especially impressive. Currently, it is used for events such as exhibitions and concerts, and is loved by many people from locals to tourists.
