Kyodokan-Yamagata City Local Museum

The Yamagata City Folk Museum (former Saiseikan Main Building), designated as a National Important Cultural Property, is a pseudo-Western-style hospital consisting of a three-storied building and a 14-sided corridor. It was built in 1878 by Michitsune Mishima, the first governor of Yamagata Prefecture, as a symbol of civilization and enlightenment. Currently, it has been relocated from Nanukamachi, Yamagata City, and restored to its current location, where it displays medical-related materials and local materials as the Yamagata City Folk Museum.
