Yokamachidori Street

"Yokamachi Street" is a street that symbolizes Inami, the temple town of Zuisenji Temple, which boasts a 600-year history. It was also selected as one of the "100 Soundscapes of Japan We Want to Preserve" certified by the Ministry of the Environment. Numerous Inami carving workshops line the street, and the scent of wood and the numerous carvings delight the eyes. As you walk down the street, you can hear the sounds of craftsmen's hammering hammers and chisels. You can see beautiful Inami carvings made using traditional techniques everywhere, such as wooden bus signs and nameplates. There are also an astonishing 29 wooden carved cats hiding on the street.
