Manai Shrine (Kago Shrine Okumiya)

This is the inner shrine of Motoise Kago Jinja, also known by the alternate name Kushihama-no-Miya (“Kushi” means the source of spiritual and mysterious power). It is now visited by many people as a power spot. Behind the main hall is an ancient worship site called Iwakura, preserved in its original form for around 2,500 years. Deities including Toyouke Ōkami and Amaterasu Ōmikami are enshrined there. Within the precincts there is sacred water called Ame no Manai no Mizu, which wells up continuously. Many people from all over the country come to draw the spiritually potent Manai no Mizu.
