Maruko Onsen Village

Maruko Onsen Village, which consists of Kakyoyu, Oshio, and Reisenji, is located at the eastern foot of the Utsukushigahara plateau. It is located almost halfway between the Yunomaru IC on the Joshinetsu Expressway and the Matsumoto IC on the Nagano Expressway, making it easy to approach from both the Kanto and Kansai directions. Oshio Onsen is said to have been discovered during the Tenmon era, and is said to be "Shingen's hidden hot spring" because it is said that soldiers of the Takeda army who were injured in the Battle of Kawanakajima were treated here. It contains radium and is said to have medicinal properties. Reisenji Onsen is said to have been named after Taira no Koreshige, who healed his wounds in the hot springs here after exterminating the ogre Momiji, and built the temple as a hot spring with miraculous powers. It is still popular as a mountain hot spring with a quiet atmosphere.
