Mount Ibuki, one of Japan's 100 famous mountains, and Mount Reizen towering to the south, are the main attractions of the region. The water stored in the forests that make up 63% of the region's total area (forest area: 158.04 square kilometers) flows through the region as the clear streams of the Anegawa and Amanogawa before emptying into Lake Biwa, making this a region rich in nature and surrounded by water and greenery.
