Ibara City Hirakushi Denchu ​​Art Museum

The museum opened as the Tanakakan in 1969 to preserve and display the works of Hirakushi Denchu, a master of modern sculpture, to honor his achievements for a long time and to help improve local culture. The collection mainly consists of works that Tanaka donated to elementary, junior high, and high schools in the city during his lifetime, new works donated with the opening of the Tanakakan, and posthumous works and belongings given by Tanaka's family after his death. There are works by artists from the Japan Art Institute, who have a close relationship with Tanaka, and Hirakushi Denchu ​​Prize-winning artists. Additionally, on the third floor, there is a recreation of Tanaka's atelier in Ueno Sakuragicho, Tokyo, where he created many of his masterpieces, recalling the atmosphere of those days. In front of the museum is Tanaka-en, a park where Tanaka's works are displayed, where you can enjoy nature in all four seasons.
