Emperor Meiji's residence in Ooi

The Ito family, which was an inn at Nakasendo Ooi-juku, became a lodging place during the Emperor Meiji's tour in 1898, and the tatami room, bathroom, and toilet are still preserved as they were at the time. At the same time, the townhouses from the Edo period to the early Meiji period have been well preserved, making them valuable from an architectural historical perspective. Next to the residence, the Nagaya Gate, which is said to have been the north gate of Ooijuku Honjin and the castle gate of Iwamura Castle, has been relocated from the Furuya family and has become a new attraction.
