Reishoji Temple

Reishoji Temple is an old temple that was built 600 years ago, and is crowded with people during the autumn foliage season. The autumn leaves at this temple are beautiful with vivid, deep colors, and because each tree changes color at different times, it is famous as a spot where you can enjoy autumn leaves for a long period of time. The ginkgo tree called Ohatsukicho, of which there are only about 20 in Japan, is especially famous. Ginkgo fruits will form on about 10% of the leaves. The carpet of autumn leaves after the ginkgo leaves have fallen is also popular. There are brightly colored trees such as yellow ginkgo, orange maples and maples, and fiery red azaleas. The best time to see autumn leaves is from the end of October to the beginning of November. In spring and fall, we also offer limited-time tours of the inside.
