Toyoharaji Temple Ruins

Toyoharaji Temple is said to have been founded by Taicho Daishi in 702. After that, it developed and became a large temple called Toyohara Sanzenbo, which was the center of the Echizen monks next to Heisenji Temple in Katsuyama. In 1575, the temple became the base of the Ikko Ikki, and was burnt down by Oda Nobunaga. Although it was rebuilt in the Edo period, it became an abandoned temple again in the Meiji period.
