Hokaiji Temple

Yakuo-san Hokai-ji Temple, affectionately known as "Yahata no Oyakussan," is an ancient Tendai sect temple that enshrines Yakushi Nyorai as its principal image and prays for worldly benefits, and is considered one of the three Yakushi temples in Japan. It was founded on August 3, 668 (the 7th year of Tenchi), and there are many indisputable facts that support its 1,350-year history, such as roof tiles from the Hakuho period that have been excavated from the temple grounds.
