Yamabiko

Yamabiko is a nostalgic, family-run restaurant in the heart of Gero Onsen, operating for over 50 years. The restaurant, housed in a building reminiscent of a traditional Japanese farmhouse, offers comforting dishes made with seasonal blessings from the mountains and rivers of Hida. You can enjoy regional specialties such as Hoba miso-yaki (grilled miso on magnolia leaves), Kei-chan (marinated chicken), and set meals featuring local river fish. The menu changes with the seasons to bring out the best of Gero’s local flavors. Next to the shop, you'll find a retro, bus stop-style waiting area that’s popular as a photo spot. ※If you take photos outside business hours and the area is chained off, please be sure to reattach the chain after use.
