Kozenji Temple

Kozenji Temple is located at the trailhead of Kuroi Castle ruins. In peacetime, the lord of the castle conducted government affairs in his mansion at the foot of the mountain. It is surrounded by moats, high stone walls, and white mortar walls, providing a sturdy defense. After the Siege of Tamba, it is said that Kasuga no Tsubone, who was the caretaker of Tokugawa Iemitsu, the third shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate, was born here and grew up there until she was three years old.
