Shizuoka City Tokaido Hiroshige Museum of Art

Located in Yui Honjin Park, the site of the headquarters of Yui-juku, a post town on the Tokaido road, Shizuoka City Tokaido Hiroshige Museum of Art is the first museum in Japan to bear the name of Edo period ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858). The museum's collection includes approximately 1,400 pieces, including the Hoeido version of Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido, nicknamed "Hiroshige and the Three Stations of the Tokaido," the Clerical Script Tokaido, and the Gyosho Tokaido, as well as Hiroshige's later masterpiece One Hundred Famous Views of Edo. In the entrance hall, you can enjoy the experience of printing multi-colored ukiyo-e prints, which are created by layering colors one by one, and other ideas are designed to deepen your understanding of Edo culture with "Hiroshige" and "Tokaido" as keywords. Original goods are also sold at the "Museum Shop."
