Heiwa Dori

Heiwa-dori, beloved by locals, features a cherry blossom tunnel stretching about 1km from Hitachi Station to National Route 6, and has been selected as one of Japan's 100 Best Cherry Blossom Spots. The best time to see it is usually from early to mid-April, and when in full bloom, about 120 cherry trees are in full bloom. At the Hitachi Cherry Blossom Festival, which is held every year, visitors can enjoy a special cultural experience with the display of the mechanical floats "Hitachi Furyumono" and "Hitachi Sasara," both registered as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
