Jabami Valley

The Hino district in the southern part of Fujioka City is a crystalline schist region of the Sanbagawa metamorphic belt, which is considered to be a low-temperature, high-pressure regional metamorphic rock. The Jabami Valley is a place where the rocks have been carved over a long period of time by the clear waters of the Ayukawa River, and it meanders for about 200 meters, creating a spectacular landscape of gorge beauty. There is an old legend that a giant snake was shot by a villager with a bow, fell into the Ayukawa River, and spent seven days and nights here healing its wounds by eating stones. It has been designated a Place of Scenic Beauty by the city.
