Fujioka History Museum

Fujioka History Museum was completed in July 2003 and opened on July 22, 2004. The museum has a special exhibition room and a permanent exhibition room. In addition, the museum has a study room for experiential learning and lectures, a repository for buried cultural properties such as pottery and stone tools donated by citizens and excavated during excavations, a special repository for storing important cultural properties, and a sorting room for restoring and recording archaeological artifacts. It is an important city facility that utilizes the valuable archaeological heritage left by our ancestors and passes it on to future generations. The "Laughing Haniwa," which won the grand prize at the Gunma HANI-1 Grand Prix, is on permanent display at the Fujioka History Museum. The "Laughing Haniwa" has a perfect smile and we look forward to your visit. In addition, all the other haniwa entered in the competition, except for the "Laughing Haniwa," are on display, with some exceptions. The permanent exhibition room is free to view. Admission to the special exhibition room may be subject to a fee depending on the exhibits. Last admission is at 4:30 pm.
