Mitsuya Tomb

This is an octagonal burial mound, of which only around 10 examples have been discovered nationwide. Octagonal burial mounds are said to be a style that was mainly adopted for imperial tombs from the mid-7th century onwards. Mitsuya Tomb is thought to have been built in the second half of the 7th century. It is rare for the roofing stones and corners of the mound to remain in such good condition, and this is the only example whose existence has been confirmed in three dimensions.
