Kaiko no Sato Exchange Facility & Morikuni Uagaki Sericulture Museum

This facility was built to honor Morikuni Uagaki, a local hero who made significant contributions to Japanese sericulture (silkworm farming). A silkworm-farming house from the early Showa period has been restored here, showcasing the lifestyle of sericulture farmers at that time. Kaiko no Sato and the Morikuni Uagaki Sericulture Museum are located on the same premises. From late May for about one month, visitors can observe silkworms being raised and see their growth process. In June, the Morikuni Kaiko Festival is held, featuring demonstrations and hands-on experiences of traditional techniques such as floss silk making and thread spinning. Currently, there are no permanent staff members on site at the Kaiko no Sato Exchange Facility or the Morikuni Uagaki Sericulture Museum. For group tours or workshops, please inquire in advance.
