Shuzenji Kamiya Washi Factory

Shuzenji paper, a very beautiful Japanese paper made in the Kamiya district of Shuzenji, Izu City, was made from mitsumata, kozo, ganpi, and tororo mallow. It was a very thin and beautiful paper with a horizontal striped pattern and light pink color. Shuzenji paper has been famous nationwide since ancient times, and in order to preserve its history and tradition, a group of volunteers established the Kamiya Washi Factory. At the workshop, you can not only make washi paper but also try your hand at making washi paper. Graduation certificates from Shuzenji Elementary School, which is located near the Factory, are made by the children themselves in this Factory.
