Roadside Station "Daikyu no Sato" Product Center

During World War I, the Bando POW camp was built in Hinoki, Taima-cho, Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture, and on June 1, 1918, German prisoners performed Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in its entirety for the first time in Asia and Japan. The "Ninth Village" is a roadside station that combines a local product center, the Naruto City German House, and the Kagawa Toyohiko Memorial Museum. The local product center has a wide selection of local specialties and Tokushima souvenirs. There is also a gelato and snack corner that uses local specialties. The building of the local product center was relocated from part of the barracks of the Bando POW camp, and is registered as a national tangible cultural property.
