Resorts in Akita

Akita prefecture is located in the northern Tohoku region of Japan, situated on Honshu island. A mountainous area, Akita is perhaps best known for its hot springs, many of which are found around Japan's deepest lake, Lake Tazawa.

There are also plenty of preserved former samurai residences, and the Oga Namahage Museum, where you can learn about and old Japanese superstitions and traditions related to the New Year.
