Central-plateau / Dokko-numa

Located at an altitude of 1,400 meters above sea level, the Chuo Kogen is a region surrounded by beautiful lakes and marshes such as Dokko-numa and Katakai-numa and virgin beech forests. Among them, "Dokko Swamp" is fantastic because the water turns blue or emerald green depending on the sunlight. To get to the Chuo Kogen, take the Zao Chuo Ropeway from Zao Onsen Town and transfer to the Chuo Daiichi Lift (Natsuyama Lift) at Torikabuto Station. For those who want to enjoy trekking, there is a walking course that takes less than 20 minutes from Torikabuto Station via the Torikabuto Observatory.
