Mitani Sugar Co., Ltd. Hane Sanuki Honpo

Wasanbon is a high-class sugar made from sugarcane using the method of the Edo period. Founded in 1804, Mitani Sugar Seito was one of the first five sugar manufacturing establishments permitted by the Takamatsu clan, and has continued to preserve traditional manufacturing methods since the birth of Sanuki Wasanbon sugar. The "push boat" used in the manufacturing process of Wasanbon has been used since the beginning of the establishment, and is designated as an important tangible folk cultural property.
