Memorial monument for Oshizu

A stone monument dedicated to Oshizu, who became a human pillar. During the construction of Maruoka Castle. Oshizu, who was living a difficult life, was buried under the central pillar of the castle tower with the promise that one of her sons would be adopted as a samurai. The castle tower was soon completed, but Katsutoyo Shibata was transferred to Omi Nagahama Castle, and Oshizu's son was never made a samurai. It is said that sometime after that, the spirit of Oshizu, who broke her promise, caused trouble by overflowing the moat with spring rain every year, around the time of Uzuki when the annual algae cutting was done. People called this rain ``Oshizu's Tears Rain'' and built a small shrine to console Oshizu's spirit. It is located at the entrance to the Maruoka Castle castle tower.
