Ippitsukeijyou memorial monument

A monument has been erected near the stone wall of Maruoka Castle's castle tower, at the entrance to the main keep, with the words, ``Let's take precautions against fire. This letter was written by Honda Sakuzaemon Shigetsugu, who was the most distinguished retainer of Tokugawa Ieyasu and was known as Demon Sakusa, from his camp to his family. Currently, Sakai City is holding the ``Ippitsukeijo Award'' with the aim of recreating this letter as the shortest letter in Japan and restoring letter culture.
