Hida Kokubunji

Alongside a large ginkgo tree that is over 1,200 years old, the precincts are home to a three-storied pagoda, and there is a bell tower gate that is said to have been moved from Takayama Castle, as well as the foundation stone of the tower from when it was first built more than 1,200 years ago. The main hall was built during the Muromachi period. It has a personality worthy of its name as one of the oldest temples in Hida. Also, in autumn, the sight of them changing to all yellow is a magnificent and moving sight. It is customary to say that if the ginkgo leaves fall, it will snow. The leaves fall in late November.
