Every winter, an event hosted by Mitsubishi Estate is held in the Marunouchi area, which consists of Otemachi, Marunouchi, and Yurakucho.

The event this winter holiday season is MARUNOUCHI BRIGHT HOLIDAY 2024 ~LET’S PLAY in MARUNOUCHI with SUPER MARIO~.

This special collaboration with Nintendo’s Super Mario is sure to brighten up the holiday season.

Marunouchi in the Heart of Tokyo

Marunouchi is the area just outside Tokyo Station. Tokyo Station is a major transportation hub, served by several lines including the JR Yamanote Line, Tokaido Shinkansen, Tohoku Shinkansen, and Hokkaido Shinkansen.

The average daily number of people using Tokyo Station is an astonishing 400,000 (as of 2023). The Marunouchi area, which surrounds Tokyo Station, is home to many commercial and office buildings, including the Marunouchi Building and Shin-Marunouchi Building. It is widely recognized as a prime location in Tokyo.

This winter, the Marunouchi area is collaborating with Super Mario, a beloved franchise across generations.

Super Mario’s Illumination, a dazzling extra-large installation, is featured at the Marunouchi Building, the main venue of the event. It’s a special experience you can only have in Marunouchi.

In this section, discover the highlights of MARUNOUCHI BRIGHT HOLIDAY 2024 ~LET’S PLAY in MARUNOUCHI with SUPER MARIO~, currently taking place in the Marunouchi area this winter.

A total of six original Super Mario displays and installations are featured in the Otemachi and Yurakucho areas, including Marunouchi Building and Shin-Marunouchi Building, located right in front of Tokyo Station’s Marunouchi Exit.

There’s also a stamp rally that takes you to nine spots in the Marunouchi area. Collect all the stamps to receive a wonderful prize. The stamp rally booklet can be purchased at several locations, including the first floor of Marunouchi Building and Marunouchi Oazo.

Marunouchi Building: Main Venue in MARUCUBE

The main venue of MARUNOUCHI BRIGHT HOLIDAY 2024 ~LET’S PLAY in MARUNOUCHI with SUPER MARIO~ is at Marunouchi Building, located south of Gyoko-dori Avenue in front of Tokyo Station.

An extra-large installation is set up on the first floor of MARUCUBE, enthralling visitors from both Japan and abroad.

This dazzling 13-meter-tall installation features MARIO hitting a ?Block. The installation, created exclusively for the event, delivers a dynamic effect, making it look as if items are bursting out of the  ?Block.

The lighting show, held every 15 minutes starting from 17:00, splendidly illuminates the extra-large installation with a production of light and sound. The show, featuring lights dancing to the music from the Super Mario series, is a must-see.

Shin-Marunouchi Building: Take a Photo with PEACH at the Atrium

At Shin-Marunouchi Building, located north of Gyoko-dori Avenue in front of Tokyo Station, there is a photo spot on the third-floor atrium space where you can take pictures with PEACH.

PEACH, featured in the game “Princess Peach: Showtime!”, is at this photo spot. Why not stand on the theater stage with PEACH and capture a memorable photo?

Marunouchi Oazo (Otemachi): Meet YOSHI at OO Square

A YOSHI-themed installation is featured in OO Square on the first floor of Marunouchi Oazo, next to Tokyo Station’s North Exit. The space is adorned with YOSHIS in various colors and colorful eggs.

This year, Marunouchi Oazo celebrated its 20th anniversary with a renovation of the first floor. The YOSHI installation is located on the first floor, right inside the entrance near Tokyo Station. The installation, set in the atrium, makes quite an impression.

Various locations in Marunouchi are also decorated with Christmas trees, wreaths, and flower arrangements in collaboration with Super Mario. Not only are there installations and displays, but the entire Marunouchi area will be buzzing with excitement from the event!

Be sure to enjoy the displays if you’re visiting the area before Christmas.

Marunouchi Terrace (Otemachi): LUIGI Appears in the Plaza

Continue towards Otemachi from Tokyo Station and you’ll find a plaza on the first floor of Marunouchi Terrace with a special display featuring LUIGI, MARIO’s younger brother. The mischievous Boo and Polterpup also make an appearance, entertaining visitors.

It’s located just outside Otemachi Station’s B1b Exit, accessible from all subway lines. You can take a picture with Luigi with a view of Marunouchi in the background.

The area will be crowded during morning and evening commute hours. Please enjoy the display while being mindful of traffic lights and regulations.

We recommend walking down Marunouchi Naka-dori Street from the Otemachi area to Yurakucho. Enjoy a stroll through the heart of Tokyo, basking in the bright, cheerful atmosphere while taking in the beautiful winter streets of Marunouchi.

Marunouchi BRICK SQUARE (Yurakucho): Be Greeted by TOAD

After walking down Marunouchi Naka-dori Street towards Yurakucho, you'll find TOADs standing on large, colorful mushrooms in an exciting space just outside Marunouchi BRICK SQUARE.

Marunouchi BRICK SQUARE Ichigokan Plaza, located on the first floor where the installation is set up, offers a spot to take a breather amid the bustle of Marunouchi. Just a short distance from the lively atmosphere of Marunouchi Naka-dori Street, it provides a quiet place to unwind.

Kokusai Building (Yurakucho): A Photo Spot of Warp Pipe

Kokusai Building, located along Marunouchi Naka-dori Street and Hibiya-dori Avenue, features a photo spot where you can pose as though you’re emerging from the familiar warp pipes of Super Mario.

Plus, there are warp pipes in front of several other displays around Marunouchi, allowing you to have fun taking pictures that make it look like you’re warping to different locations.
