What is "Toka Ebisu"?

Toka Ebisu is a festival to pray for prosperity in business. It is held every year from January 9th to 11th, mainly in the Kansai region, and is affectionately known as "Ebessan."

During this period, many people visit shrines dedicated to the god of prosperous business to receive lucky bamboo and rakes from shrine maidens known as "Fuku Musume." It is a lively and vibrant winter event.

When you think of "Ebessan" in Osaka, you think of "Imamiya Ebisu Shrine"

Imamiya Ebisu Shrine is one of Japan's three major Ebisu shrines. It is so popular that as many as 1 million people visit it every year over the course of three days. It is within walking distance from Namba Parks and Tsutenkaku, so you can visit the shrine in between sightseeing!
