Himeji Castle Festival 2026: Parades, Noh, and Bon Dances
Experience the Himeji Castle Festival from May 22–24, 2026! Enjoy historic parades, Takigi Noh, Yosakoi dance, and a new Bon Dance with DJs and food trucks.

Himeji’s annual Castle Festival will return for three days, May 22–24, 2026, showcasing a mix of traditional performance, historic pageantry and new youth‑focused programming designed to sustain local momentum after the Expo. Events will be staged across Himeji Castle’s precincts, with major activity hubs on Otemae Street, Otemae Park and Sannomaru Plaza.
New this year, the Himeji de Bon Dance will bring a pop‑friendly evening program to Otemae Street, pairing DJs and a mobile stage with participatory dance for younger audiences. The weekend lineup will also include food trucks, industry–academic collaboration booths and hands‑on working‑vehicle exhibits, alongside the festival’s long‑running cultural and parade attractions.
Highlights

The evening will be marked by a traditional fire‑lighting ceremony, and performances will be live streamed and archived. Multilingual subtitle service, Noh Support, will provide simultaneous subtitles in Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean for inbound visitors. On‑site seating may be limited, so attendees are advised to arrive early; the rain backup venue is Himeji Civic Hall (main hall).
