New Chitose Airport can feel a little confusing when you first arrive. Fortunately, maps are conveniently placed throughout the airport, along with multilingual touchscreen information boards. These make it easy to check your current location and quickly find your destination.
The domestic and international terminal buildings are also connected on the second and third floors, making it easy to move between them!

This is another popular airport dessert spot where you'll often find a line. If you're craving something cold, try the Premium Milk Soft-Serve, which perfectly showcases the rich, creamy flavor of Hokkaido milk. Generously swirled high above the cone, this large serving is incredibly satisfying!

You can also try the airport-exclusive freshly baked blueberry cheese tart. A lightly sweetened blueberry sauce is tucked inside rich cheese mousse, then baked until warm and fragrant. Paired with the crisp, golden tart crust, it's an irresistible combination!

New Chitose Airport is a fantastic place to shop for Hokkaido souvenirs! Popular favorites such as Jaga Pokkuru, Rokkatei, Kitakaro, and Shiroi Koibito can all be found at the airport's many souvenir shops. However, some Hokkaido products are exclusive to particular stores, so you may need to do a little exploring to find them.
KINOTOYA: Souvenirs for Friends, Family, and Yourself

The KINOTOYA New Chitose Airport Factory Store brings together three of KINOTOYA's popular brands: THE CAKE, KINOTOYA RINGO Apple Pie, and Sapporo Agricultural College Premium.

You can pick up many of the brand's best-known products in a single visit. The classic favorite is the Sapporo Agricultural College milk cookie. Here, you'll also find Sapporo Agricultural College Premium, which has a shelf life of just three days. Toa Coffee, whose main shop is located in Chitose, is a long-established coffee shop dating back to the Showa era. At the airport, you can enjoy its classic coffee or pick up convenient drip coffee bags to take home. If you're looking for a souvenir for coworkers or your boss who aren't big fans of sweets, consider this coffee in its airport-exclusive packaging! Calbee: Hokkaido-Exclusive Jagarico Set

Calbee's Jaga Pokkuru is extremely popular, but this special Jagarico set is also worth trying. These crunchy, stick-shaped potato snacks have a slightly different texture from Jaga Pokkuru. The box contains flavors inspired by different regions of Japan, such as mentaiko, okonomiyaki, and grilled chicken wings. With its Hokkaido-exclusive packaging, it also makes a great gift!
YOSHIMI: Sapporo Okaki Oh! Yakitokibi

Hokkaido Ramen Dojo is located on the third floor of New Chitose Airport's Domestic Terminal Building. There are several entrances, but one is especially easy to recognize thanks to its distinctive landmark: a map of Hokkaido made from ramen bowls.
Hokkaido Ramen Dojo brings together numerous ramen shops serving everything from soy sauce and miso ramen to salt-based and creative varieties, making it a great place to enjoy authentic Hokkaido ramen.

Famous for its signature shrimp ramen, Ebisoba Ichigen is one of the most popular spots in Hokkaido Ramen Dojo. Diners can choose from three broth richness levels, but first-timers should opt for the Sono Mama Ebi Shio. Made with shrimp flavor infused into every element—from the broth to the oil—this fragrant, savory-sweet bowl is hard for any seafood fan to resist.

If you’ve ever wanted to see how chocolate is made, head to the ROYCE' Chocolate World factory inside New Chitose Airport. Through clear glass windows, travelers can observe a blend of automated robots and master confectioners crafting delicious Hokkaido chocolates in real time.

The ROYCE' bakery often attracts long lines, too. Chocolate melon bread, bread stuffed with a whole chocolate bar, chocolate croissants, and many other tempting creations showcase chocolate in all kinds of delicious ways. Chocolate lovers may have a hard time resisting the urge to fill their trays with everything!
High on the list of recommendations is the Nama Chocolate Croissant [Au Lait]. With its buttery, flaky crust and rich chocolate filling, this standout bakery treat is well worth the stop.

Hello Kitty Happy Flight

Hello Kitty transforms into a flight attendant and takes visitors on a journey around the world with her Sanrio friends. You'll encounter adorable characters such as Hello Kitty, Little Twin Stars Kiki and Lala, Pompompurin, and My Melody dressed in a variety of fun outfits. Don't forget to grab your camera and take plenty of memorable photos with them!

When you need a break, stop by the Happy Flight Cafe and enjoy a relaxing meal or dessert surrounded by Sanrio characters. The exclusive menu includes curry, ice cream parfaits, hamburger steak with rice, and other dishes that are as cute as they are delicious.

Observation Deck, Museum, and Pilot Uniform Experience (4F)

With an extensive network of domestic and international routes, New Chitose Airport welcomes aircraft of all sizes from around the world every day. The observation deck is a popular gathering spot for aviation enthusiasts and photographers looking to get a front-row view of the action.

Near the observation deck is the Sky Museum, a small museum dedicated to the history of aviation in Japan. Exhibits include uniforms worn by Japanese airline cabin attendants through the years, displays on the history of New Chitose Airport, and other exhibits illustrating how air travel has evolved over time.

Become a Pilot or Flight Attendant! Kids' Uniform Experience

Children can dress up in uniforms and experience what it's like to be a pilot or flight attendant (please ask a staff member at the counter to rent a uniform).

There are also real airline meal carts on display, coin-operated flight simulators, shops selling merchandise from Japanese airlines such as JAL, ANA, and AirDo, as well as model aircraft of various types. There's plenty here to delight aviation fans of all ages.

How to Get to Sapporo and Otaru
JR Trains
After leaving the International Terminal, walk through the connecting passage toward the Domestic Terminal. Take the elevator down to B1F, where you'll find the JR New Chitose Airport Station.

JR operates both local and rapid trains, with no additional fare required for rapid services. If you want to save time, taking a rapid train is the best option. Trains can get crowded, so travelers who want a guaranteed seat can pay an additional fee to reserve a seat in the U-Seat section.

To Otaru: Direct rapid trains take approximately 76 minutes and cost 1,910 yen. If a direct train isn't available, you can travel to Sapporo first and transfer to a train bound for Otaru.
To Sapporo: Local trains take approximately 55 minutes, while rapid trains take about 37 minutes. The fare is 1,150 yen.
Bus

If you prefer to travel by bus, take the elevator to the first floor and follow the signs to the bus stops. Airport buses to central Sapporo stop at several convenient locations, including Odori Park, Sapporo Station, and Susukino.
