A 3-day trip to experience contemporary art in Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art, Ohara Museum of Art, and Naoshima
This tour will take Naoshima around two museums in Okayama and nearby Okayama over a three- Tomari, two-night trip. The Okayama Prefectural Gojutsukan Museum will be hosting an exhibition of works by Yuichi Hirako, winner of the "I-san Award" established to foster young artists in Okayama Prefecture. Meanwhile, the Ohara Museum of Art will be hosting a solo exhibition by contemporary artist Yasumasa Morimura, set in the unique historical building of Yurinso, the villa of the Ohara family.
Naoshima has become known as a representative location for contemporary art, and you can take your time appreciating the many artworks scattered across the island, including the famous Chichu Art Museum, designed by Tadao Ando. For first-time visitors, this is a relaxed tour with commentary included, so you can fully enjoy the contemporary art that blends with the nature of the Setouchi .

Day 1
JR Osaka Station + (Shinkansen) + JR Okayama Station - Ohara Museum of Art (viewing) / Kurashiki Historical Quarter (lunch / free walk) - Okayama Korakuen - Okayama(dinner / lodging)
Your trip will begin in the Bikan Historical Quarter, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Okayama. As you stroll through the typically Japanese waterways and willow-lined streets, you will be able to reflect on the art tour that is about to begin.
The afternoon began with a visit to the Ohara Museum of Art. The Ohara Museum of Art is Japan's first private museum focusing on Western Kurashiki , founded in 1930 ( Showa 5) by Ohara Magosaburo, a businessman who was active in a wide range of fields based in Kurashiki, in memory of the painter Kojima Torajiro, who had died the previous year. Magosaburo, who was also a collector of Japanese art, asked Torajiro, who was also his friend and supported his travels abroad, to collect art works at the same time as he created them. He carefully selected works by El Greco, Gauguin, Monet, Matisse, and others, and brought them to Kurashiki, which is also the origin of the Ohara Ohara of Art.

This solo exhibition by contemporary artist Yasumasa Morimura will be held at Yurinso, a unique Western-style building that was built as a villa for the Ohara family. Born in 1951, Morimura is an artist who creates new art by closely analyzing well-known masterpieces and recreating them in a self-portrait-like manner, thereby shortening the distance between himself and the artwork. By combining the historic and unique architecture of Yurinso with the contemporary ruins, the exhibition will feature new works composed from a critical perspective, with the museum's history and collection as one of its themes.

After leaving the Ohara Museum of Art, we will visit Okayama Korakuen. Korakuen, one of the three major gardens in Japan, is a stroll-style park built by Ikeda , the feudal lord of Okayama , where you can relax and unwind. We will stay overnight in Okayama City.

The first thing I do in the morning is visit the Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art. In addition to collecting and displaying artworks related to the Okayama region, the museum actively hosts exhibitions and workshops. It aims to be a "museum that connects" the present with the past and future, and Okayama with various countries and regions, through art and culture. This time, I will visit the exhibition of Yuichi Hirako, the 13th recipient of the "Mr. I Award," which is given to up-and-coming artists as part of this effort.

Hirako studied painting in London, and has since produced works in a wide range of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and installation, focusing on the coexistence of plants and humans and the ambiguity and questions that arise in the relationship that exists between them.
Afterwards, we will head to Naoshima via Uno Port, where we will take our time to appreciate the art facilities in the Honmura area of the island, such as the Art House Project and the Naoshima New Museum of Art.

On the last day, you will visit the Benesse area in the Nanbu of Naoshima . There are many representative facilities of Naoshima, such as the Benesse House Museum, Valley Gear Rally, Lee Ufan Museum, and Chichu Art Museum.
