3-Day Contemporary Art Tour in Kagawa

This three-day, two-night tour visits four museums in Kagawa. At the Kagawa Prefectural Museum, view Tsuyoshi Ozawa’s “Seven Wonders of Sanuki,” exploring the boundary between pure and non-pure art, inspired by historical museum collections. The Takamatsu City Art Museum features “Between Ishida Hisashi’s Paintings and Windows,” Ishida’s first major exhibition since 2015, including stop-motion live-action footage. Enter Naoshima from Okayama and begin with the Benesse House area. Travel on a dedicated bus to visit Benesse House Museum, Valley Gallery, Lee Ufan Museum, and Chichu Art Museum, with commentary provided to enjoy the exhibits at your own pace. Overnight stay is at Benesse House Park, where many artworks are also displayed—feel free to explore and discover your favorites.

Hotel (breakfast) - tk14 Takamatsu City Art Museum (viewing) - Takamatsu Port - (charter boat) - Marugame Port - Marugame(lunch) - Marugame City Genichiro-Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art (viewing) - JR Okayama Station (around 16:30) + (Shinkansen) + JR Osaka Station (around 17:37)

On the final day, visit the special exhibition at Takamatsu City Art Museum before enjoying a one-hour chartered boat cruise from Takamatsu Port to Marugame Port. Conclude the tour at the Marugame City Genichiro-Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art, where you can view the artworks and receive a detailed explanation of the museum’s architecture.
