Enjoy beauty care while experiencing the unique charm of Urayasu

This project is an industry-academia collaboration aimed at discovering the charms of the region together with students who will lead the future and creating a unique stay experience. It is also part of the "Co-Creation Hotel" strategy promoted by Oriental Hotels & Resorts. This is Tokai Urayasu High School's first collaborative project with a hotel and company.

In April 2025, hotel staff visited the school and gave a lecture on the theme of "accommodation plans that convey the charm of the region." Approximately 150 third-year students then participated, with 25 teams submitting plan proposals. In August, the team leader students visited the hotel and toured the hotel to deepen their understanding of the industry and refine their plans. The proposals were selected based on a comprehensive assessment of the validity and originality of the concept and the strength of the proposal.

In order to realize this project, we have cooperated with local company Manavis Co., Ltd. to select special items for the accommodation plan. The company received the Urayasu City Excellent Company Award in 2018 and is actively involved in local events and cultural projects.

Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay aims to be a hotel that continues to provide a unique stay experience while discovering and nurturing the charm of the local community.

■Comment from the team leader of Tokai Urayasu High School
We struggled to choose the contents of the benefits, but it was fun to think together from a student's perspective about how we could make the most of the company's strengths and what the guests wanted. By trying and failing to meet the needs of the guests and how to generate profits for the company, we were able to experience firsthand the meaning of contributing to society. Having the plan we proposed evaluated directly by a company representative through school classes was a very valuable learning experience. We would like to use this experience in our university life and when we enter the workforce.

■Comment from a teacher at Tokai Urayasu High School
After touring the Manavis factory, the students were able to think up ideas for plans that would please their guests, asking for their families' opinions and discussing them with each other. This curriculum, which had never been seen in previous classes, required them to use their imaginations and I think each student learned something. Working with a local company to come up with an accommodation plan that will actually be sold at a hotel, was an invaluable experience not only for the students but also for the teachers.
