Prior to the construction of Narita Airport, this area was home to the Shimosa Imperial Stock Farm (*). During the spring, the area thrived as a famous cherry blossom viewing spot, reportedly drawing as many as 200,000 visitors who came to see the 100,000 cherry blossom trees.

As time passed, the area transformed into what is now known as Narita Airport. Nevertheless, the scenery surrounding the runway hints at its former past. The cherry blossoms once beloved here still decorate the airport today, and as the gateway to Japan, they accompany travelers’ excitement as they set off for the unknown along with a sense of reflection that lingers at the end of a journey.

This event was held to let guests experience Narita Airport’s history and culture with all five senses and was an opportunity to appreciate its charms once again.
