Flavorful Fukushima Grapes! Seasonal Fruit Fair In Shinjuku - Part 2

Part Two of the Popular Fukushima Fruit Special Fair in Shinjuku!

Following this summer's peach-themed fair, another seasonal Fukushima fruit fair will be held in Tokyo's Shinjuku District from October 8 to 21, 2019!

This time, the event's highlight is the perfectly round and shiny Shine Muscat grapes. Similar to the previous fair, you'll be able to enjoy photogenic sweets and culinary creations. The venue will once again take place at Futaba Fruits Parlor Shinjuku Marui Main Store.

With the cooperation of other famous fruit parlors in Tokyo, visitors can enjoy parfaits, cakes, and other desserts made with generous amounts of fruit grown in Fukushima.

A third fair is also scheduled in succession to the second event, so please look forward to it as well! MATCHA will continue introducing the upcoming fruit fairs!

A Menu Highlighting Flavorful Grapes!

1. Parfait Topped with Two Grape Varieties and Apples (1,680 yen before tax)

This luxurious parfait is made with two delectable grape varieties—Pione and Shine Muscat—and apples. From layers of soft serve ice cream to granola, please enjoy the changes in flavor from six different tiers of tasty goodness.

2. Festival Plate Featuring Two Grape Varieties and Apples (1,380 yen before tax)

This luxurious set menu consists of a mini parfait and grape sandwich jam-packed with soymilk cream—all served on a plate with a side of apples. It's undoubtedly an irresistible menu for visitors with a sweet tooth!

3. Pancake Topped with Two Grape Varieties (1,380 yen before tax)

This chewy pancake is made with glutinous rice flour. You’ll experience sheer bliss simply eating this pancake topped with juicy grapes and a side of grape jam!

Other tasty menu items are also available at the festival. For example, we recommend the vegan-friendly tiramisu made with soymilk, as well as the curry and fruit salad.

Fukushima Prefecture: Japan’s Leading Fruit Paradise

Located relatively close to Tokyo, Fukushima Prefecture is accessible in an hour and 30 minutes via the shinkansen (bullet train). It is also the leading producer of fruit in Japan.

Visitors can experience all four seasons in Fukushima. Due to a favorable climate and skilled commercial farms, an abundant variety of fruit is constantly cultivated. In other words, there is never a period when fruit is not in season. These include premium quality peaches, pears, grapes, apples, persimmons, strawberries, and more!

Fukushima is ranked number two in the country for the production of peaches, accounting for over 20% of the domestic market. The prefecture's peaches are in season from early July to late September. During this period, the seasonal variety of peaches continue to change in what is coined a "peach relay."

Over 30 different varieties of peaches are produced, all of which are brimming with sweet fruit juice and have distinctive features.
