teamLab Planets TOKYO has expanded by adding new exhibition areas: Athletics Forest, Catching and Collecting the Extinct Forest, and Future Park. Also, visitors can now turn their drawn sketches into souvenirs at the Sketch Factory.
teamLab Planets TOKYO DMM launches its new exhibition areas on January 22, 2025, expanding the exhibition area by approximately 1.5 times.
The new areas include the complex three-dimensional creative sports space Athletics Forest, as well as Catching and Collecting Extinct Forest where visitors can capture and observe various extinct animals, and Future Park, set up for co-creation, showcasing over 10 works.
Additionally, the newly established Sketch Factory will allow visitors to create various original products (such as round badges, towels, T-shirts, tote bags, and paper models) from drawings made within the exhibition area and take them home. The outdoor space will also undergo significant renovations.
Athletics Forest is a new "creative sports space" designed around the concept of "perceiving the world through the body and thinking about the world in three dimensions," primarily aimed at training spatial cognitive abilities.
Visitors will be fully immersed in an intense interactive world within a complex and three-dimensional space.
The Rapidly Rotating Bouncing Spheres are spheres that bounce when a person stands on them. These spheres rotate at high speed, but when someone approaches, the rotation stops, allowing them to step on them.
The Multiple Bouncing Universe is an elastic floor that allows for jumping. When a person stands on it, they can feel the ground sinking or jump higher than usual.
Colorful Aerial Climbing is a space where rods are suspended by ropes, floating in three dimensions. Visitors must use these rods to navigate through the air, moving in three dimensions to avoid falling.
Balancing Stepping Stones are elastic stones that change interactively and produce sounds when a person steps on them, impacting the surrounding space. Standing on them will trigger different swinging movements.
In the passage of time in reality, various animals inhabit the forests and oceans that change with the seasons. When you touch the animals, they may turn or flee.
Using the app Catching and Collecting Extinct Forest, you can observe animals moving in the space. When you shoot an Observation Arrow at the animals that appear on the camera, a corresponding Observation Arrow will also fly out in the real space.
When the Observation Arrow hits, that animal will disappear from the space and enter your smartphone. The information about the animals you observe will be recorded in the app's encyclopedia.
This is an educational project based on the idea of co-creation, designed as an amusement park where people can enjoy freely creating a world with others.
Through collaborative creation, individuals come together to form a work of art. As people continuously innovate, the world of the artwork will constantly change.
Draw pictures of airplanes, butterflies, and eagles on paper. Subsequently, the drawn images will appear in three dimensions and fly into the world in front of you.
When you touch the flying airplane, butterfly, or eagle, they will accelerate or flee.
The newly established Sketch Factory allows visitors to transform their drawings into products that can be taken home.
The Sketch Factory is a facility where visitors' drawings, such as those of various creatures, can be turned into a variety of products (such as round badges, towels, T-shirts, tote bags, and paper models).
In Graffiti Nature that Flips the World and Sketch Umwelt World, the drawings created by visitors can be customized at the Sketch Factory. Subsequently, the drawings made by the visitors will appear and start to move within the Sketch Factory.
When the drawings enter the printer, the production of the products will begin, ultimately transforming into finished items like round badges, towels, T-shirts, tote bags, and paper models.
