What kind of facility is Fuji Safari Park?

This is one of Japan's largest safari parks, where about 800 animals from 60 different species, including lions, giraffes, and elephants, live freely in the vast natural surroundings at the foot of Mt. Fuji. The park is divided into two areas, the Safari Zone and the Interaction Zone. You can tour the Safari Zone from your car or on a tour bus, while you can tour the Interaction Zone on foot. Another popular activity is the Walking Safari, where you can observe animals while walking along the forest course that runs along the perimeter of the Safari Zone!

When is the best season to see Mt. Fuji?

The best time to see Mt. Fuji is in the winter when there is little rain. Specifically, the period from December to February is the most likely, with a 50% to 70% chance of seeing Mt. Fuji.
Also, the time when you can see Mount Fuji covered in snow is between November and May, although this varies from year to year.

On the other hand, the chances of seeing Mt. Fuji are lower from June to August. This is because there are many rainy days and high humidity, which often results in clouds and haze, so you may only be able to see Mt. Fuji for 2-3 days a month. Also, even if you can see it clearly in the early morning hours, as the temperature rises, clouds often form and hide Mt. Fuji.

Mount Fuji Viewpoint

1. A spectacular view from behind the trees [Bear Zone]

The Mt. Fuji view spot in the Bear Zone, the first part of the Safari Zone, is in the latter half of the course. It is an area with many trees, so don't miss this spot!

2. A seasonal view spot only available from winter to spring [Lion Zone]

There are many trees from the Lion Zone, and the places where you can see Mt. Fuji are limited. You can see the summit from some areas only from November to April, when the broadleaf trees lose their leaves.

3. Super rare! You can see the whole view of Mt. Fuji in the Cheetah Zone

The cheetah zone is an open grassland-like area, so you can get a full view of Mt. Fuji.
During the summer (July to early October), there is almost no snow on Mount Fuji, which seems to be different to what many people imagine.

4. The collaboration between the largest land animal and Japan's best [Elephant Zone]

This is a spot where you can see the largest land animal, the elephant, and Japan's tallest mountain, Mt. Fuji, together. Both are huge!

5. The Herbivorous Zone has the most view spots of Mt. Fuji

The herbivorous zone is an open area where you can see the magnificent view of Mt. Fuji from everywhere. Why not take a photo of Mt. Fuji with your favorite animals, such as giraffes, zebras, rhinos, camels, etc.?

6. Safari Zone's Mountain Herbivore Zone

You can also see Mount Fuji from the area where the American bison live.

7. Mount Fuji right in front of you! One of the most spectacular spots in the park [Parking lot 2]

There is a spacious meadow in the second parking lot area. It is a great spot with an unobstructed view of the majestic Mt. Fuji all the way to its base!

8. A viewing spot where you can enjoy interacting with animals [Interaction Zone]

You can also see Mount Fuji from the kangaroo and capybara area.

9. A view spot where you can take a leisurely stroll [Safari Restaurant Square]

From late April to early May, tulips bloom in abundance in the square in front of the restaurant, making it a popular photo spot where you can take pictures of the flowers and Mt. Fuji together!
