Autumn evenings in Arashiyama will glow once more as the autumn illumination formerly known as Arashiyama Hanatouro, returns after a four‑year hiatus under the new name Arashiyama Tsukitouro.

Arashiyama Tsukitouro will illuminate the Bamboo Grove Path in Sagatenryuji this October. About one kilometre of the famed walkway will be lined with bamboo lanterns crafted from reclaimed groves, bathing the trail in a warm, whispering glow.

The installation transforms the swaying bamboo into an intimate, dreamlike corridor that invites evening strolls and quiet reflection.

Running alongside the Arashiyama revival, Kyoto Nishiyama Bamboo Lights — Enchanted Nights 2025 will illuminate precincts and approach paths at Otoshi Shrine, Yoshiminedera, and Yanagidani Kannon Yōkokuji with bamboo lanterns made from neglected groves, transforming temple grounds into shimmering evening landscapes that highlight local heritage and sustainability.

Otoshi Shrine:
Period: October 18–20
Location: Kyoto, Nishikyo Ward, Oharano Haigatacho, Otoshi Shrine

Yoshiminedera:
Period: October 31–November 3; November 8–9
Location: Kyoto, Nishikyo Ward, Oharano Oshiocho, Yoshiminedera

Yanagidani Kannon Yōkokuji:
Period: November 21–24; November 29–30
Location: Kyoto, Nagaokakyō City, Jōdodani, Dōnoya, Yanagidani Kannon Yōkokuji

Event hours at all Nishiyama sites are 18:00–20:30, with reception at Yoshiminedera and Yanagidani Kannon closing at 20:00.

Temporary round‑trip buses will operate on weekends and national holidays during the Nishiyama event periods for customers presenting an EX Service usage voucher, running between JR Katsuragawa Station ⇔ Yoshiminedera and JR Nagaokakyo Station ⇔ Yanagidani Kannon Yōkokuji. Temple and shrine admission fees are payable on site; tickets are not sold through EX Travel Reservations.
