Experience Art by the Sea: Hotel ANTEROOM Naha
Since its debut in Kyoto in 2011, ANTEROOM has redefined the modern hotel by seamlessly blending local culture with cutting-edge interior design.
After Kyoto, Tokyo, and Kawasaki, this innovative concept arrived in Okinawa with the opening of Hotel ANTEROOM Naha in February 2020.
Ideally located within walking distance of the vibrant Kokusai-dori, this seaside hotel features distinctive installation art throughout its spaces, creating the awe-inspiring atmosphere of a contemporary art museum.
The best part is that you don’t need a room key to enjoy the vibe. The on-site café-restaurant ANTEROOM MEALS Naha warmly welcomes both travelers and locals alike.
A Living Gallery: A Hotel Filled With Art

As you approach the entrance, the automatic doors glide open to reveal a striking sight.
Within the soaring, two-story atrium, white walls are splashed with vivid red paint—a bold installation that might make you wonder if you’ve accidentally wandered into a contemporary art museum.

Each new artwork is more captivating than the last, sparking a sense of genuine wonder. From here, follow the sleek, minimalist signage up to the second floor.

On the second floor, floor-to-ceiling windows frame a panoramic view of the coast. While the waters near Naha are more subtle than the vivid blues of the north, ANTEROOM’s thoughtful architecture elevates the scenery into a stunning seaside vista.

In front of the pop-up coffee shop stands a finely carved wooden sculpture of astonishing craftsmanship.

The shop features an inventive collection of souvenirs that offer a fresh take on Okinawan tradition. Most notable are the local coffee, salt, and sugar, all cleverly packaged to look like pocket-sized novels.
Waterfront Dining at ATEROOM MEALS Naha: The Italian Lunch Set

Seaside seating by the floor-to-ceiling windows allows you to dine while gazing at a stretch of ocean that feels entirely your own. Even as a local editor, the atmosphere gave me an instant sense of being on vacation.

The lunch set. Add 300 yen for a dessert after the meal.
We highly recommend the Italian Lunch Set. While the appetizer and dessert are served individually, the creative pastas, risottos, and drink bar are all available buffet-style.

Today’s appetizer featured a sophisticated assortment, including a savory baked omelet, carrot jelly, and various Italian-style small plates. The refined seasoning highlights the natural sweetness of the ingredients, encouraging you to slow down and savor every bite.

Sicilian-style pasta with beef cheek and tomato; seafood pasta with shrimp and avocado; smoked capuli-style penne; and risotto with Gorgonzola cheese
The chef’s creative pastas and risottos offer a unique twist: they are ordered à la carte but served in an all-you-can-eat format. Each dish is served in a half-portion, allowing you to sample a wide variety of flavors before reordering your favorites.

To complement your meal, a curated self-serve drink bar provides a thoughtful selection of beverages that perfectly rounds out the experience.

For dessert, you can choose one of four seasonal specialties. A standout is the Sicilian Ricotta Roll, which features an Okinawa-inspired creamy filling wrapped in a delicate, pancake-like crepe.
The light sweetness of the crepe, paired with tart cherries and a layer of white chocolate, creates a beautifully balanced and sophisticated finish to the meal.
Coffee Time by the Ocean: Local Flavors in Every Cup

If you’re simply looking to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee with a view, ANTEROOM’s on-site café is the perfect retreat. Here, you can unwind while taking in the sweeping, unobstructed vistas of the ocean.

The café offers both indoor and balcony seating to suit the season. The balcony brings you closer to the salt air—perfect for the mild days of spring and autumn—while the indoor area provides a cool sanctuary during the summer.
With convenient power outlets and stunning views, the interior allows you to enjoy the décor in climate-controlled comfort.

Coffee enthusiasts will appreciate the latte’s deep, robust flavor, which can be enjoyed either hot or iced.
Beyond the coffee classics, the menu features a creative range of refreshments, including sparkling sodas, chuhai-style drinks, and premium English teas.
A true local highlight is the iced tea brewed from the leaves of Okinawan coffee trees—a rare and refreshing treat.
A New Vision for Okinawan Hospitality
