Kanazawa is a popular travel destination because of its culture and traditions that have been passed down through generations. Among them, Kanazawa geisha, who have honed their skills and hospitable hearts over time, are a sight to behold. The "Japanese Orchestra Performed by Geishas" is a special opportunity to see the performances of geishas, who even if you live in the area, might as well not have many chances to see. There are three chaya (teahouse) districts in Kanazawa where geishas live, and this program will be held in Nishi Chaya District. It's a quaint neighborhood with long-established Japanese restaurants, and you can hear the sound of shamisen at dusk.

This time's setting is the West Geisha Call Office (Nishi Kenban Office), a closed-to-public facility in Nishichaya District, Kanazawa. This building, which is also a registered tangible cultural property of the country, was constructed in 1922 as a rehearsal hall and administrative office for geisha. There is a Western-style office building with impressive light blue walls and a Japanese-style two-story wooden rehearsal hall in the back. This program provides a special opportunity to enjoy the performances in a facility that is usually not accessible to the general public.

Being able to enjoy the elegant and splendid performance of Kanazawa Subayashi up close is another charming point of this program. The so-called "Ochaya Asobi" has a "no first-time visitor" policy, and it is not possible to visit without being introduced by a regular customer. It is a rare opportunity to see the "Kanazawa Subayashi", dance, and ozashiki taiko drumming by the performers, who work hard every day and improve their skills to the point where they are known for "constantly rehearsing except when performing". Please take this opportunity to experience a "Japanese orchestra" consisting of songs, shamisen, taiko, otsumi, kotsuzumi, and flutes. There will be time for photos at the end, and the time spent here will no doubt remain as a vivid memory.

This program will be interpreted by a live tour guide, and during the performance, interpretation will be provided into English and Chinese (Chinese will be available on limited dates). Even for foreigners, it will be more interesting with the support of understanding the language. This performance will be held four times a month until January 2024.
