A coffee shop that has been loved in Kobe since the postwar period

Nishimura Coffee is a coffee shop that was opened by founder Kiyoko Kawase in 1948 after the Second World War. Originally it was a shop where customers could enjoy sweets and Japanese tea that had been purchased from the shop, but coffee was added to the menu after a regular customer requested that they serve coffee.

Although Kawase was a novice when it came to coffee, he learned about it with the help of those around him and opened a coffee shop with just three tables.

The first shop to open was Nishimura Coffee Nakayamate Main Branch. The German timber frame-style building is a landmark, and many tourists visiting the Kitano area stop by.

The classical atmosphere of the shop is also wonderful.

"Kitanozaka Nishimura Coffee Shop" on Kitanozaka was Japan's first members-only coffee shop until 1995, and was frequented by many famous people. It is now open to the public.

At Nishimura Coffee Shop, their popular blended coffee is made with Miyamizu, a famous spring from Nada. The founder, Mr. Kawase, had the idea that "if you brew coffee with good water, it will taste good," and after searching around, he finally found Miyamizu, which is also used in Nada sake breweries. Fresh Miyamizu drawn from a well is still delivered to each store every morning.

The passion for coffee, "wanting customers to drink delicious coffee," is still carried on at Nishimura Coffee Shop today.

Now, among the many stores, this time we would like to introduce Nishimura Coffee Shop Hankyu-mae Store (hereinafter referred to as Hankyu-mae Store), which was expanded and renovated in 2022.

The restaurant is divided into the first floor and the basement, and mainly has tables that seat 2 to 4 people. It is also a short walk from the station, so it is often used by businessmen. The Hankyu-mae branch is the first Nishimura Coffee store to offer food menu items such as pasta.

The most popular food menu is the "Plate Set" (1,500 yen), which changes monthly. There are about four types of menu, including "Curried Chicken", "Ash Parmentier", "Sauteed Pork with Garlic Sauce", and "Hamburg Steak".
