Let us know! Basics of Bizen ware
Bizen ware is the pride of Okayama Prefecture. It is also registered as a Japanese heritage site as one of Japan's six ancient kilns. I have some, and the more I use them, the more the corners come off and they become more familiar. that's right. Bizen ware is said to be a ``ware that can only be used to its fullest potential.'' Now when you drink beer, it's creamy and foamy and delicious! And it stays cold for a long time!
Ceramics experience debut!
This time I visited Inbe, the village of Bizen ware. I decided to take on the challenge, thinking that even though I'm a little clumsy, I'd be fine with it, since I was being taught by an active potter. Halfway through, it became more fun than I expected, and the competition became very serious.
While listening to the charm of Bizen ware from the teacher, we will steadily make it.
The piece will take shape while listening to the depth of Bizen ware. You'll be surprised to hear that the very fine pores and slight air permeability make the flowers in the vase last longer. I was also told that these fine irregularities make the beer's foam finer, making it last longer and taste better. I thought the potters were quiet and scary, but they turned out to be friendly and kind.
It somehow took shape
Your one and only Bizen ware in the world will be completed in about an hour! ! When you complete something, you will feel a surprising sense of accomplishment. The cameraman said it looked ``awkward,'' but once it was baked, it might turn out surprisingly well. That's what I thought. (Even if it's distorted, I still feel attached to it!)
engrave a ceramic seal
It seems that the personal signatures (marks) that artists put on their works are called porcelain seals. When completed, I will also engrave a ceramic seal. It will be baked after about a month. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens. By the way, there are two types of baked goods. Hidasuki firing produces orange-ish stripes, while firing in a climbing kiln produces patterns such as ``Kiln Hen'', which are special characteristics of Bizen ware, such as ``Sangiri'', ``Sesame'', and ``Hidasuki''.
Shopping is fun again!
After the pottery experience, you can see the works made by the artists and go shopping. When you look at it after making it, you really feel that it has a wonderful shape and texture. It's not just expensive items that you can't afford. Bizen ware was originally made for everyday use, so I'm glad that it's reasonably priced so I can afford it. Moreover, compared to other types of pottery, Bizen ware is said to be more difficult to crack because it is baked more firmly.
Walking through the town of Ibe, the village of Bizen ware
The most distinctive feature of this town is the scenery lined with climbing kiln chimneys. The atmosphere of a pottery town is everywhere. From reasonably priced shops to workshops with large, high-end pieces on display, it's fun just to look around. While strolling around, we recommend visiting Amatsu Shrine. Surprisingly, there is a Bizen ware guardian dog! The tiles of the shrine and the approach to the shrine are both made of Bizen ware. Even the votive tablets were Bizen ware.
One month later, the work finally arrives...!
My Bizen ware was sent to my home. I opened it with excitement. happy! Seeing this makes me want to try pottery again. I use the device every day. As the teacher said, ``Bizen ware is a pottery that can only be used to its fullest potential.''
