This time, we will introduce three festivals that represent Shizuoka: the Shimizu Tanabata Festival, the Abekawa Fireworks Display, and the Nihon-daira Festival.

①Shimizu Tanabata Festival ~ Tanabata Festival at the Birthplace of Chibi Maruko-chan ~

The Shimizu Tanabata Festival, held every year in the Shimizu Ward of Shizuoka City, is a festival that features colorful bamboo decorations and gorgeous events. The Tanabata Festival takes place in early July, and is bustling mainly around the Shimizu Station Ginza Shopping Street and the Shimizu Ginza Shopping Street.

Shimizu Ward is the birthplace of the nationally popular anime character "Chibi Maruko-chan." It was also broadcast in Taiwan in 2017, so some people may already know about it. At the festival venue, there are Tanabata decorations featuring Chibi Maruko-chan, which are a feast for the eyes. Check the official website for details!

③About the 39th Nihon-daira Festival ~Large fireworks light up the Nihon-daira sky~

Nihon-daira has been selected as a Japanese night view heritage site. With that night view as your backdrop, you can lie down on the grass in the outdoor garden and watch the large fireworks that light up the night sky. Approximately 12,000 fireworks will be launched. The launch intervals are short, so you can enjoy a spectacular fireworks show that combines fireworks, lighting, and music with a sense of realism. For more details, please check the official website.
