What is Okinawa "Eisa"?
Eisa is a traditional event held during the Obon festival to honor ancestors. Every year during the Obon festival in Okinawa, young people from the area dance Eisa and parade through the village (michijune), praying for good health, safety, and prosperity for each household, and to honor the spirits of their ancestors. There are various styles of Eisa depending on the region, and you can enjoy them at the Eisa Festivals held in various places.

In order to convey the charm of the Okinawa All Island Eisa Festival, the Executive Committee produced a special video "Eisa Dondon" to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Okinawa All Island Eisa Festival. It is a human drama that depicts the growth of a youth group aiming to participate in the Okinawa All Island Eisa Festival and the family ties. It conveys the history and charm of the Okinawa All Island Eisa Festival, and shows what Eisa is all about. It is a wonderful video that allows you to touch the essence of Okinawan culture.
