Shibuya Sky Dreams Festival: Lanterns, Fireworks and More

Shibuya’s iconic SHIBUYA SKY observation deck is set to transform into a vibrant stage for the Tenku Yume Matsuri (Sky Dream Festival), a city-style autumn celebration that combines traditional festival traditions with modern cityscape elements. Running from September 11 to September 27, 2025, this festival promises an emblematic celebration of dreams, community, and skyward hopes.

The Festival Highlights

Sky Bon Odori and Dream Transition

On the rooftop SKY STAGE, participants will dance in a circle during a special Bon Odori — Japan’s traditional summer dance — with a contemporary twist. Dancers from local companies such as CyberAgent and Leverages Inc. will perform the Sky Bon Odori, where each movement embodies personal dreams and wishes, rising skyward in a colorful display of community spirit.

Accompanying the dance is the original Scramble Ondo, energizing the scene with traditional festival music.

Dream-Writing and Light Art

Inside the SKY GALLERY on the 46th floor, visitors can write their dreams on colorful tanzaku and display them alongside floating lanterns, creating a Sky Dream Corridor that visually brings individual hopes to the sky.

l

The lanterns’ changing colors, synchronized with SHIBUYA SKY’s original lighting system, add warmth and rhythm to this contemplative space. After the event, all dreams will be respectfully burned at a local shrine, symbolizing the release and manifestation of aspirations.

Sky-High Cultural Experiences

l

Throughout the festival, visitors can enjoy special items like Hurricane Pizza Potatoes priced at 800 yen, featuring rich cheesy flavor with a subtle spicy kick, and the traditional Ramune soda, which costs 700 yen, perfect for the lingering summer heat.
