What is Izu Cactus Zoo?

Izu Shaboten Zoo is a zoo and botanical park located at the foot of Mount Omuro in Futo, Ito City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

There are many free-roaming animals in the zoo, such as capybaras, squirrel monkeys, and peacocks, and because they live freely you can get incredibly close to them and even enjoy interacting with them and feeding them treats.

What is Animal Boat Tours?

A boat tour that takes you around nine large and small islands and the coastline, allowing you to observe animals.

The only place in Japan where you can experience this is at Izu Cactus Zoo!

Each island is home to a variety of monkeys, including squirrel monkeys, ring-tailed lemurs, brown lemurs, and Geoffroy's spider monkeys.

Flamingos and capybaras also live along the coast, allowing you to experience the feeling of being on an adventure while enjoying the natural scenery.

Full-circle course

This is a course that takes you around the pond while listening to a guide explain the ecology of the animals that live on the island and along the coast.

Recommended for those who want to enjoy the explanations and scenery at their leisure.

Monkey Island Landing Course Squirrel Monkeys/Ring-tailed Lemurs

This tour takes you by boat to an island inhabited by squirrel monkeys or ring-tailed lemurs, where you can experience feeding them. Recommended for those who want to enjoy interacting with animals.

Held every day (cancelled in case of rain)

[Full-circle course] Approx. 15 minutes

Adults (junior high school students and above) 1,200 yen, Children (ages 3 to elementary school students) 600 yen

*Children under 2 years old are not allowed on board.

* First come, first served. Reception is available at the boat boarding reception booth.

[Monkey Island Landing Course: Squirrel Monkeys/Ring-tailed Lemurs] Approx. 20 minutes

Adults (junior high school students and above) 1,500 yen, Children (ages 3 to elementary school students) 800 yen

*Children under 2 years old are not allowed on board.

*First come, first served. Reservations required at the boat boarding reception booth.

*During busy periods, the number of landing courses will be limited in consideration of the health of the animals.

Important Notice for Animal Boat Tours

・Reception hours vary depending on the season and are extended during busy periods. As congestion is expected, please arrive early.

・For ages 3 and up (fees apply)

・Children under 2 years old, pregnant women, and those who have been drinking alcohol are not permitted on board.

・Children under elementary school age, elderly people, and people with disabilities must wear life jackets.

・Tours may be changed or canceled depending on the health of the animals, weather, etc.

Pets are not allowed on board
