A 30-minute drive from Matsusaka Interchange, on the grounds of Mie Prefectural Iinan High School along National Route 166, there are Japanese maples that turn bright red in autumn.

There is a parking lot right next to the square where the maple trees are located.This is on the grounds of Iinan High School, but anyone who is not affiliated with the school can also park there if they are there to view the maple trees.

The Japanese maple tree at Iinan High School is 25 meters tall and over 90 years old, making it a symbol of the local area.

2. Taiunji Temple

From Iinan High School, drive along National Route 166 towards Nara for another 30 minutes to reach Taiunji Temple, one of Matsusaka's most famous autumn foliage spots.

Taiunji Temple was founded a little after the mid-Edo period, and is home to a rare octagonal bronze bell made of eight flat plates arranged in an octagonal shape.

A beautiful, colorful landscape unfolds around the octagonal bronze bell, which has been designated a tangible cultural property of the prefecture, and the main hall.

There is a pond in the temple grounds where carp swim, and the autumn leaves that fall on the water are also beautiful.
