The annual Nemophila Festival is scheduled to return to Osaka Maishima Seaside Park from April 11 to May 10, 2026. This horticultural event features approximately one million Nemophila menziesii (commonly known as Baby Blue Eyes), covering a 44,000 m² coastal area.

Following a hiatus in 2025 due to the adjacent Osaka Expo, the festival returns to its standard spring window to showcase one of the largest floral displays in the Kansai region.

Landscape and Botanical Features

The park's design leverages its seaside location to create a Triple Blue visual effect, where the cyan petals of the Nemophila fields align with the horizon of Osaka Bay and the spring sky. The 2026 event includes specialized Collaboration Zones where the blue flowers are interplanted with seasonal varieties:

The Cherry Blossom Zone features late-blooming sakura trees integrated into the floral fields.

The Tulip Zone displays a high-contrast arrangement of multi-colored tulips set against the blue Nemophila backdrop. On weekends and during the Golden Week holiday period, the park will extend its operating hours until 18:30 (with final admission at 18:00).

This allows visitors to view the fields during the Golden Hour. Maishima is recognized by the NPO Japan Sunset and Sunrise Village Promotion Association as one of the top 100 sunset viewing locations in Japan, offering views of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge as the sun sets over the water.

The 2026 festival also features expanded facilities to accommodate large crowds, following a high of 230,000 visitors in 2024.
